Indica Wave: Creating my own genre

Indica Wave is a musician based out of Queens, New York. She began her musical career at the age of 4 when she would sing Selena and Celine Dion songs at family gatherings. Her inspiration derived from her father and brother who are also talented musicians. It wasn’t until March of last year when she began to make music. Her determination to push forward and pursue her musical career came from her daughter Delilah. Indica faced self-doubt but with self-reflection, she began to focus on being a role model to her daughter. She did not want her daughter to know that she gave up on her dream.

Indica Wave now focuses on making music full time because she wants to set an example for the young soul watching her and remind Delilah that she can do whatever she sets her mind to. Upon further conversation, Indica shared with us some insight into her new album, Peace of Me, that is being released on March 6th (*Delilah’s Birthday*)! Peace of me is a depiction of her journey through self-discovery, and self-love. The album takes you through a wave of emotions much like a roller coaster (which is also a song in her new album) with a look into some of the most personal experiences she has overcome in recent years.

“The album is written like a journal,” there will be a total of 10 songs 3-5 minutes, and differ from singing, spoken word, Spanish, and Spanglish. “We always hear these voices in our head that are telling us different things. Each song is a different voice,” the album goes from happy, sad, to real-world issues.
